The growing attention to the environment, with ever stricter regulations, is leading the cooling and refrigeration industry to abandon the old refrigerant fluids and replace them with more eco-friendly solutions such as carbon dioxide (CO2). For this gas to work effectively, however, it must be used at higher pressures, up to 120 bar, which imposes new loads and strength requirements on the connecting pipes.
To guarantee sealing and safety at higher pressures with the classic copper tube, the inner wall thicknesses would have to be increased, with a consequent increase in the material used and therefore a higher cost for the end Customer.
GAMM, always attentive to market developments and to the search for innovative solutions, has added to its product range the ability to work and weld CuFe2P, a raw material able to meet these quality and cost-control needs: it is a 2% copper-iron alloy which, having greater strength, can guarantee stability even at 120 bar while using less material, thus cutting costs and obtaining more competitive prices on the finished product.
Depending on requirements, the tubes in this alloy are available in inches or in mm, from 3/8″ and 9.52mm up to a diameter of 2 1/8″ and 54mm.
